SAS and Amdocs Team Up for Marketing Automation

SAS and Amdocs are teaming up on customer intelligence systems. The deal has SAS taking over the support of Amdocs’ marketing campaign management application, which is largely based on the technology acquired from Xchange in 2003.

The Bottom Line: This is one of the few vendor partnerships in which customers and the software vendors involved truly benefit.

What It Means: Amdocs acquired the assets of Xchange after it closed its doors in 2003, gaining approximately 100 customers. Amdocs then incorporated the functionality into an enhanced marketing system in Clarify CRM 12.5, and moved about one-third of these customers onto the new tool. Since the acquisition, Amdocs has struggled to win new campaign management customers and convert the remaining Xchange customers onto the Amdocs product line.

The Takeaway: Recognizing this issue and understanding that it is impossible to provide best-in-class functionality across all areas, Amdocs has partnered with SAS for long-term support and new product development for marketing automation and business intelligence.
