POSITION DUTIES
The Director position will focus on strategy development for Customer Marketing by working closely with our marketing, finance and credit counterparts in developing sound marketing strategies that will increase profitability and market share. The Director will be responsible for analyzing program performance and identifying new strategies (or adjust existing strategies) to capitalize on new predictive models and/or newly discovered pockets of opportunity.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Econometrics or related quantitative fields
  • 5-6 years experience working in an analytic or quantitative field, preferably in the bankcard industry
  • Previous experience with SAS and SQL is mandatory. Oracle, Informix and UNIX experience a plus
  • Strong analytic, problem solving and communication skill are essential. Staff management experience a plus. .
POSITION SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Technical / Business knowledge: This Director is recognized as a leader with deep technical expertise. Able to frame business problems and either work independently or divide problems into manageable parts for the analysts to work on. Draws reasonable and actionable conclusions from analytic summaries. Recommends changes to existing policies and processes based on analytic conclusions and understanding of business requirements and drivers. Supports recommendations with clear business case which demonstrates bottom-line value.

Communications / Influence: Convincingly presents analytic results and recommendations to peers and senior management. Able to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms. Effectively chairs meetings to review recommendations especially when disparate viewpoints must be discussed. Influences the thinking of others. Able to negotiate with and persuade senior management and others across departments.

Leadership / Teamwork: Provides guidance to effectively work across departments; Assists in establishing operational goals and executing business plans that affect company success; Recognizes and develops talent; Serves as a mentor for less-experienced team members; Manages members of project teams and may manage direct reports as well.

Business / Industry Acumen: Understands the company's business strategies, competitive environment and industry trends and how they affect strategy and policy decisions. Understands the company's business model and can gauge the impact of recommendations on various departments. Familiar with the company's organization and the main objectives of each department.

BUSINESS JUSTIFICATION
This position is instrumental in providing analytic support for Customer Marketing, so that marketing strategies can be developed, tested, evaluated and rolled out with a comprehensive and well thought out plan. These strategies help drive our revenue goals, thus this position is critical for the success of our marketing programs.
