A fast growing Silicon Valley start-up, backed by top VCs, is seeking a data mining/text mining senior engineer for its data stream analysis application. The candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of algorithms for the classification and mining of structured and unstructured data streams. This includes: using supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques to find patterns and relationships in the data, classification, clustering, detection of anomalies, information indexing and retrieval, and data visualization and summarization.

Requirements:

• Experience with large data sets. Experience with handling high rate data streams is a plus.
• Ability to work independently
• Broad experience in some of the following: data mining, text mining, data stream processing, information retrieval and artificial intelligence
• Strong programming skills in C
• Solid statistics and mathematical skills
• Ability to work with strict deadlines
• MS degree in a related field. Ph.D. preferred.
