Maximize your professional impact: take advantage of an extraordinary opportunity to influence literally hundreds of thousands of independent websites on a daily basis. The Amazon.com Associates program seeks Software Development Engineers to design and develop inspired solutions that empower website owners to promote millions of Amazon.com products and services across a distributed network.

As a member of the technical team, you will design and build creative solutions to drive revenue growth, improve bottom line profitability, and extend our technical assets to new lines of business. You will influence the technical direction for one or more critical areas of our software platform: high performance content serving, innovation of new linking technologies, configurable & automated payment solutions, integrated reporting & other business intelligence tools, and end-user application development. You will work cross-functionally with engineering teams and product management to implement our technical and product vision. You will also help maintain a total quality software development process and reliable underlying services.

Our Ideal Candidate:

Qualified candidates will have three to five years of software development experience in a UNIX (or LINUX) environment. Candidates will have an excellent grasp of C/C++ and working knowledge of HTML, scripting languages, Perl, and current trends in Web technology, as well as the desire to learn new technologies. Candidates must be innovative, creative, flexible, self-directed, and understand how to design and write high-performance, reliable, maintainable code in a fast-paced environment. Candidate's ability to quickly adapt to new development environments, changing business requirements and learning new systems is highly desired. A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a relevant area is required. Experience with large database driven web sites or applications is highly desired.

Amazon.com
work hard, have fun, make history

Did you know that Amazon.com has hundreds of software engineers working on some of the most interesting technical challenges on the planet? We employ some of the world's brightest and most innovative minds in software, working on event-driven fulfillment planning, optimal content selection, product recommendation algorithms, guaranteed interprocess messaging, and the list goes on and on. Whether you're scaling our world-class supply chain systems or you're architecting an ecommerce platform that big name retailers (Target and Toys 'R Us, for example) depend on to run their online businesses - you'll find challenging work that'll stretch you on multiple dimensions.

At Amazon, we ship software continuously, so you'll see the results of your efforts in days or weeks not years. Amazon has an entrepreneurial small-team environment, where individuals' innovative ideas are prized and routinely make history. Because you'll be on a small cross-functional team that is responsible for both business and technology decisions, you'll never want for understanding the relationship between what you're working on and the ultimate business value that is being created.

Amazon.com, a Fortune 500 company based in Seattle, opened on the World Wide Web in July 1995 and is now the world's leading ecommerce technology company. Amazon.com seeks exceptionally well-qualified candidates and offers competitive compensation and benefits.
