Marketing Execution & Customer Analytics

Position Summary:
The Marketing Manager has responsibility for developing and executing consumer and small business audience segmentation and targeting strategies based on online behavior, user value, or other variables specific to the business need. This involves development of data-driven tactics to support online direct response advertising campaigns for acquisition, activation, cross sell, up-sell, retention, and win-back initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Build proactive relationships with strategic and direct marketing partners to drive successful marketing strategies using database marketing techniques.
  • Identify future business opportunities based on analysis that builds and deepens understanding of the current customer base.
  • Develop and test innovative and effective segmentation and targeting techniques to improve campaign performance.
  • Create test plans and utilize best practices in design and analysis of experiment to isolate and advance understanding of factors that affect media and creative effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with Campaign Management & Execution team to implement campaign design and targeting methods.
  • Conduct analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of campaign media and targeting tactics and make recommendations to optimize campaign performance.
  • Produce detailed analytic reports on key customer behavior statistics and trends.
  • Collaborate with MDS scientists to develop, test, and apply leading-edge modeling techniques in order to achieve business objectives.
  • Work with MDS to develop requirements and automate proven targeting methods.
  • Liaise with Privacy, Policy, Legal, and Editorial. Experience Required:
  • Excellent statistical and technical proficiency. 8+ years experience applying supervised and unsupervised modeling techniques to build customer segmentation and targeting strategies.
  • Proven ability to design and analyze direct response advertising programs using statistical techniques.
  • Excellent business acumen and demonstrated ability to translate business objectives into tactical plans that achieve measure-able improvements in campaign results.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Must have leadership and ability to articulate and present business insights to senior management
  • Strong experience in extracting, cleansing and validating large datasets in the UNIX environment.
  • Proficient in Perl, UNIX shell scripting, SAS, and SQL
  • Experienced with MicroStrategy reporting, being able to pull reports out of the system and debug if necessary
  • Strong business acumen, solid understanding of key financial metrics and it�s business implication
  • Experienced Marketing Performance Measurement
  • Must be detail and deadline oriented and be able to �multitask� and meet concurrent, rigorous deadlines under fast-paced environment
  • MS or Ph.D degree with quantitative focus, such as statistics, math, computer science, economics, engineering or operational research. MBA preferred.
  • Knowledge of Internet technologies and marketing practices.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional team leadership skills.
  • Solid understanding of key financial metrics
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
