NEW YORK, Sept. 8 (GenomeWeb News) - Bayer HealthCare has licensed Ariadne Genomics' MedScan data-mining software in order to develop an internal molecular interaction database, Ariadne said today.

To increase the efficiency of its pathway-analysis tools, Bayer HealthCare needs "an internal integrated database of pathways and molecular networks containing all most recent information," said Michael Seewald, a Bayer HealthCare bioinformatician.

MedScan extracts pathway-related information from scientific literature in several electronic text formats, and stores information in XML.
