U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency Purchases InFact

SEATTLE � September 21, 2005� Insightful Corporation� (NASDAQ: IFUL), a leading provider of software solutions for analysis of numeric and text data, announced today that the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has renewed its site license of InFact for text analysis and relationship search with a perpetual license. The renewal follows one year of comprehensive evaluation and testing by DIA analysts. InFact identifies the subject, verb, and object of each sentence and organizes the data in a way that makes it easier to analyze data relationships across documents.

InFact provides intelligence analysts with software to interactively search, quantify, and perform analysis of hundreds of thousands of relationships among individuals, organizations, geographical locations, monetary amounts and all kinds of other transactions within minutes. Using InFact, knowledge workers can perform relationship search and link analysis to uncover cause-and-effect patterns critical for intelligence decision-making.

Today�s announcement follows the company�s announcement in May that the US Air Force and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have awarded contracts to Insightful�s InFact� Text Analysis Business Division to develop enhanced solutions for text analysis in bioinformatics.
