Then you should consider coming to us here at Credit Risk here in Birmingham Midshires (Member of the HBOS group). BM are setting up a data mining team that will engage with the members of the Credit Systems, Portfolio Analytics, Fraud Management, Quality Analysis, Lending Policy and the Marketing teams. This Data Mining Team will work as 'brain tool' in order to get insightful and useful ideas about the key drivers in credit risk. We will take part in developing each part and we will also try to get an overview interactive perspective of optimisation of the whole group. HBOS has 22 million customers. With assets of over �440 billion, it is the UK's largest mortgage and savings provider as well as being a major player in the provision of new current accounts and credit cards in the UK.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be degree calibre, preferable were you applied multivariate data mining algorithms.
  • Have at least 3 years SAS Programming experience and Base SAS Certified.
  • Experienced with SAS, Base, Stat, Guide, Enterprise Miner and knowledge how to extract data out of various sources.
  • Be able to demonstrate skills in data mining.
  • Have a long experience in working with multivariate data.
  • Enjoy the explorative part of Data Mining.
  • Experience in Banking, Marketing & Credit Risk will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of explorative data mining tools like XGOBI and 'Spot Fire' will be an advantage.
  • Preferably have experience working with SPSS base.
The key elements of the role will be:
  • To work within a guiding framework and methodology as defined by the Data Mining Manager.
  • To undertake 'supervised' data analysis relying on pre-classified historical data, and 'unsupervised' analysis of Applications without target variables.
  • Engage with members of the Fraud Management, Quality Assurance, Lending Policy and Marketing Teams to fully understand business priorities and issues.
