Background on Accenture Technology Labs:
Accenture Technology Labs investigates how technology will shape: 1) the future of our clients and their customers, and 2) our own consulting and outsourcing businesses. We build prototypes that demonstrate how advances in technology will change the way we live, work, and do business in the next 3 to 5 years.

Our researchers highlight new opportunities for dramatic change in a variety of media: papers and demonstrations in academic conferences, feature stories in the popular press, and workshops in which we interact with the top executives from a broad spectrum of industries. We also work closely with an efficient internal technology transfer system that takes key ideas and brings them to working fruition within our firm's operating groups. Our internal and external clients span the globe. Our external clients range from large, established firms to innovative new startup companies.

Current areas of investigation by Accenture Technology Labs include: Analytics & Insight (Machine Learning & Data Mining), Human-Computer Interaction, Intelligent Device Integration, and Systems Integration (see www.accenture.com/techlabs for more details on each of these areas).

Requirements for candidates:

  • "Out of the box" thinkers with an inclination toward research
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or Computer-related area from a research university
  • Strong publication record in relevant conferences and journals
  • Ability to articulate the larger implications of a research project
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Willingness to take strong, possibly controversial positions on issues
  • Inclination and ability to build software (vs. purely analytical/ theoretical)
  • Ability to travel 50% of the work week
