We have two positions available for the Connection Machine Project, an R&D effort to apply techniques of AI and Knowledge Management to locate experts and expertise within a global, 120,000-employee company.

People-centric Knowledge Management - Researcher and Programmer

• Develop, implement and refine the knowledge workflow, the user profile representation and update, as well as the incentive scheme for an expertise locator application.
• Assist in the development of user modeling algorithms and similarity metrics for application area.
• Interview pilot users and analyze and document the knowledge acquisition, utilization, maintenance and feedback workflows in selected application domain as needed.
• Analyze the impact of user characteristics and various incentive schemes on these workflows.
• Analyze vocabulary and refine knowledge representation method in application domain.

• Ph.D. / MS in CS or similar with strong background in one or more of the following: people-centric knowledge management, recommendation systems, user adaptive systems, social network analysis, information retrieval, question answering systems.
• Hands-on experience with web application development in a J2EE environment required.
• Experience in knowledge representation, personalization, and data mining in industrial environments highly desired.
• Previous experience in a professional services organization beneficial.
