Subject: Salford CART(R), MARS(R), TreeNet(tm) excel at PAKDD 2006

The challenge required combining predictive accuracy with cogent exposition of the methods used in an analysis of different classes of mobile phone customers.

Inductis, using CART and MARS, was the first runner-up, and Salford Systems, using TreeNet, was the second runner-up. The two teams worked independently of each other. These results bring Salford's tool total "medals" in data mining competitions to 14, beginning with two first place results in the KDDCup 2000 and 4 first place outcomes in the 2002 Duke/Teradata churn modeling competition, and a first place "Most Accurate" in the KDDCup 2004.
