SAIC is seeking an experienced data miner for the BioSense project for anomaly detection on spatio-temporal public health surveillance data. BioSense is the national program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, designed to improve the nation's capabilities for real-time biosurveillance.

Description: Lead an effort for algorithm development and evaluation for early event detection and situational awareness on aggregated clinical data. Provide technical leadership and IT skills for applied data mining of spatio-temporal data, relational data and text data for deployment in a custom application.

Education: PhD in technical field or equivalent experience required.

Required Skills: Three years experience in data mining; data cleansing, querying, modeling, and evaluation. Experience in programming, scripting languages, and data analysis coupled with a strong understanding of data mining and statistical tools. Strong communication, writing, leadership, and teaming skills.

Desired Skills: Experience in the fields of statistical reporting and data visualization, temporal analysis, spatial clustering, and change point detection. Query experience with SQL or SAS datasets. Practical experience in the development of enterprise level data mining solutions or in scientific analysis of large datasets. Solid understanding of relational databases, and software methodology. knowledge of natural language processing and regex techniques. Ability to be self-directed and to direct the work of others, and to record process and solutions in technical reports.
