SAS sponsors master's degree in information quality at University of Arkansas at Little Rock

Students to use business-critical data quality technology from SAS subsidiary DataFlux

CARY, NC (Jan. 30, 2007) ­ SAS,, the leader in business intelligence, has become a leading sponsor of the new Master of Science in Information Quality at University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). The first master's degree of its kind, the program provides students the skills to improve the quality of the vast amounts of data held in computer systems worldwide. The program will use best practices and technology from SAS and DataFlux, a SAS subsidiary that specializes in data quality and data integration solutions.

Experienced data-quality professionals are in high demand as companies invest in software to analyze growing stores of data to make better business decisions ­ a process that demands goood-quality data.

Students and faculty in the program will use several advanced analytic software packages, including the market-leading SAS® Enterprise Miner™ data mining producct and DataFlux® dfPower® Studio, which profiles, cleanses, integrates, enriches and monitors enterprise information. The degree curriculum balances information-quality theory with industry best practices using state-of-the-art tools and technology.

“Through this strategic agreement, students in this program will gain hands-on experience with some of the best data-quality tools available in the marketplace today,” according to Dr. John Talburt, the program?™s Coordinator.

The sponsorship is part of the SAS Academic Program, which supports the teaching, learning and research interests of colleges and universities by offering resources designed specifically for professors and students. This program helps professors integrate cutting-edge software into their curricula, acquire professional training and knowledge, promote the use of SAS and DataFlux technologies in teaching and research, and interact with academic colleagues around the world.

About the Master of Science in Information Quality (MSIQ) program

Established in 2006 by the UALR Donaghey College of Information Science and Systems Engineering in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Information Quality Program, the MSIQ program is dedicated to promoting state-of-the-art curriculum in information quality education, contributing new ideas to the information quality knowledge base, and establishing information quality partnerships with the community, government, and industry.
