Overview:
Yahoo! marketplace design team is looking for top talents to focus on key Yahoo! Sponsored Search product design and development initiatives. Positions encompass unique opportunities for individuals who strive to blend advanced cutting-edge modeling theories and techniques with large-scale data model & analytics to develop high-impact pragmatic advertiser marketing solutions to Yahoo! sponsored search group which attracted wide attention from leading media channels.

The Sr. Modeler position will engage extensive marketplace model development for Y Properties. This position requires fundamental knowledge on pricing, market economics, and supply-demand basics. The candidate will develop core pricing and yield models. This is a cross-functional role.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with marketplace design team in product design, pricing modeling and analytics.
• Work on pricing design & algorithms to optimize the market yield for Y Properties and Y Sponsored Search.
• Work on modeling the business dynamics & ecosystem initiatives to effectively understand the drivers of the marketplace.
• Analyze market data to quantify price-elasticity & to gauge the pricing gap/opportunity for advertiser acquisitions.
• Conduct risk opportunity analysis for new business ideas.
• Work on Y Property advertiser valuations to search marketing.
• Collaborate with marketplace design and property teams in designing new and innovative Y! Property marketplaces.

Skills/Requirements:

• 1-2 year practical experience.
• MS/Ph.D. student in CS, Economics/Econometrics, Operations Research, Applied Math.
• Experience in paid search, advertising business is plus.
• Familiarity with database systems & data manipulation (e.g. SQL, MySQL, Access, Perl).
• Familiarity with Data mining and Analytics (e.g. SPSS, SAS, S-PLUS).
• Experience in Mathematical/Optimization modeling & algorithm design is plus.
• Knowledge in basic game theory, microeconomics, supply-demand analysis is plus.
• Independent thinker.
• Self-motivated; ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary team environments.
