Job Description: 
The Sr. Analyst R&A provides quantitative solutions to business problems, including specific recommendations on business decisions.  This individual is responsible for serving clients, enterprise-wide, and to have a clear understanding of the business needs.   He/she works on business problems that are unique in their own right but similar to other problems the R&A team has seen in the past.  He/She is then accountable to designing the analytical framework for solving the problem, use programming skills to extract the proper data from a variety of systems, manipulate the data to perform the necessary calculations, make recommendations and present findings.  He/She is also accountable for improving the automation of existing programming tools to be used throughout the enterprise.  Success in this position requires applying basic statistical principles and applying quantitative methods.  An understanding of financial flows is required.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide analytics and enhances existing software tools development for key constituents (e.g., merchandising, finance, planning, programming, sales & service, operations & fulfillment, dot com, etc.)
  • Combine basic statistical techniques, direct business experience and computer programming skills to analyze business problems, create solutions and make clear business recommendations
  • Uses a variety of programming languages (e.g., SQL, SAS, FoxPro, Access, SPSS, Business Objects, etc.) as necessary to manipulate data from existing Corporate Systems primarily IR (Information Repository), MDM (Marketing Data Mart), and Customer SAS files to analyze the business performance.
  • Creates new functionality for existing data systems and can use data feeds from multiple systems.
  • In layman’s terms, explains complicated methodologies used, findings and recommendations to internal clients and project teams
  • Represent the user community and make technical suggestions as appropriate for IT releases.
  • Protects data integrity.
  • Consult with project teams during project implementation
  • Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results and for interpreting results.  Results must be cost-effective and actionable.
  • Provides data and customer analysis to the legal department.  Consults with attorneys (in-house and external) as required.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement through automation and implements the automation of those processes.
  • Creates production sequences for business analyses and reports that can be generated on a timely (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly) basis.
  • Provides training on reports, querying/reporting applications, and other tools developed by R&A team.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, computer programming, data mining, business modeling, marketing, finance, information technology.
  • Computing Skills: SQL, SAS, FoxPro, SPSS, Crystal Reports, Visual Basic, Business Objects
  • Ability to access, extract, cleanse, and transform data from legacy systems
  • Ability to design and/or develop data and business applications
  • Basic knowledge of statistics.
  • Ability to design, develop, implement and support business reports and reporting capabilities including the design and maintenance of the data systems that generate the reports and/or business analysis
  • Proven effectiveness in project management and delivery
  • Ability to develop relationships throughout the company including the executive level. Must be a team player.
  • Disciplined to ensure all programs and analyses are quality assured prior to release
  • Self-starter with a willingness to produce results for all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to manage many projects
  • Proven effectiveness as a problem solver with workable solutions that have practical applications
  • Ability to recognize process efficiency opportunities and to act on them
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business, IT, Finance, Statistics, or Economics.
  • Understanding of HSN's business and financial flows
