The Datacenter Software Services (DSS) team is looking for a Software Development Engineer (SDE) with a strong knowledge of hardware and system-level interfaces to help build an industry-leading platform to monitor and manage Microsoft's Datacenter Infrastructure around the world. This is an opportunity to help design and develop a new platform that integrates data and information from servers, networking, and datacenter infrastructure into a unified system that will help manage one of the key growth areas at Microsoft-the Datacenter and web-services infrastructure. In this position, you will be working closely with Microsoft Research (MSR), the networking team, the Datacenter team, and DSS to create a unique product that has massive scale and geo-distribution; much of the work that will be done will be new, ground-breaking research and development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience, is required
  • At least 3 years development experience with C/C#/ C++. Development experience shipping software on a fast-paced, phased release schedule (SCRUM-based development is a plus)
  • A strong track-record for working cross-group, cross-division and delivering results in a collaborative environment
  • A solid understanding of the X86 chipset architecture
  • A focus on Business Intelligence systems linking multiple data stores and types into related data sets for analysis.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in large scale data processing, data warehousing, data mining and reporting services.
  • Able to appropriately design schemas to optimize query performance.
  • Capable of rich, eye-catching User Interface design.
  • Able to develop a quick/responsive UI with large amounts of backend data from various sources.
  • Any experience in networking interfaces and/or datacenter infrastructure interfaces (CRAC units, etc) would be considered a plus
