Subject: Victoria, London, UK: Data Analyst at Microsoft/Brook Street

Brook Street are working with Microsoft's Online Services Group (OSG) MSN/Windows Live to recruit a Data Analyst to join the Business Intelligence Consumer Insights team (BICI) based in the London office working on a contract for services basis initially until June 2008 but this is likely to be extended for a further period.

The BICI function reports to the Marketing Function in the EMEA organisation. The main objective of the team is to supply the best source of timely and accurate insights and information to the EMEA Regional Management Team and local markets.

Job Purpose
The primary purpose of the Data Analyst is to interrogate third party sources and internal audience data to create a clear picture of the various types of user on our sites and on competitor sites. The data analyst will need to use clustering/multivariate analysis to help shape the target market the marketing team should focus activities towards.

Responsibility/Activity

  • Produce reports on a continuous (mostly monthly) basis highlighting our performance versus the competition. Typical metrics would be Unique Users, page views, time, sessions.
  • Ad hoc projects to support and adapt global market segmentation models, sometimes using multivariate analyses
  • Drive methods to ensure the best quality data is delivered in the most efficient manner to aid strategic thinking and reporting in to global HQ.
  • Maintain a clearly structured and easy to navigate sharepoint giving access to key internal customers.
  • Build strong relationships with BICI Redmond team, EMEA regional team and local markets.
  • Advise on data issues, market changes, and have an input on the story behind the charts.
  • Communicate UK process and best practice to EMEA and WW Data Management teams
Qualifications and skills
You will need to have advanced Excel and SQL 2005 Analysis Services or SPSS skills essential and be able to use SQL effectively for data integration, queries and reporting.

You will ideally have a degree with a strong statistical element or 2-3 years working within in a similar position, preferably within the IT industry.

Finally you will need to demonstrate excellent problem solving skills and be used to reviewing and refreshing processes where necessary. You will need to have great relationship building skills as some of the senior stakeholder community will sit in other countries and you will need to be able to work with them virtually effectively.

Salary: �35 - 40K
