The business intelligence market continues to be a hot market segment. We saw consolidation among the largest BI players last year creating what I describe as the forest fire effect -- wiping out the old growth and creating opportunities for new growth to take place. This acquisition is further evidence of the continued interest in the BI market especially for predictive analytics and data mining. The larger trend of consolidation to a single BI platform has been driving much of the acquisition activity in the past.

However, this acquisition highlights a trend which we think will grow in importance. TIBCO is not a traditional BI vendor. They are much more associated with business processes. The combination of business processes and business intelligence represents the next big wave for BI. InforSense's analytic mashup approach differs from TIBCO's message bus approach, but the larger trend is clear -- BI will be more and more associated with business processes rather than implemented as stand alone applications.
