SUMMARY
Primary responsibilities include the day-to-day management of a team of statisticians responsible for providing analytic consulting, training, development, and delivery of predictive analytic solutions to First Data clients across the full account life cycle. This is a "hands on" role - the successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, and mentoring a team of statisticians and performing as the technical specialist for analytic development and operational scoring aspects in deploying First Data analytics technology. The Director will work closely with First Data clients and the First Data Client Services project team to understand the analytics requirements and goals, acquire appropriate historical data, and assist in developing analytics for use in operational scoring applications.

The successful candidate must be comfortable analyzing and understanding large amounts of historical data to determine suitability for modeling or clustering, data cleansing, experimenting with different types of algorithms and modeling techniques, analyzing model performance, preparing model reports for communication with internal and external clients, participating in presales activities, and providing post-implementation support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide day-to-day management responsibility for a team of statisticians
• Provide "hands on" analytic consulting for strategically assigned engagements
• Develop predictive analytic solutions
• Conduct analytic review meetings
• Provide pre-sales support during the sales cycle

• MS in a science or engineering field. PhD preferred.
• 5+ years people management experience
• 5+ years industry experience in employing mathematical/statistical modeling, pattern recognition, or data mining/data analysis on real world problems
• Extensive experience with Unix, SQL, Database technology, Java and Perl
• Experience with SAS, PREDIGY, and other model development tools is a plus
• Strong problem solving and analytical ability
• Excellent communication skills and comfortable presenting at all levels within an organization
• Team orientated and at the same time has the ability to work independently with minimum direction
• Able to manage multiple tasks, resources and projects concurrently, all with aggressive time lines
• Ability and willingness to learn new fields of mathematics, statistics, and computer science/software development

• General office environment. In certain instances, work in a computer machine room subject to constant elevated noise levels and air conditioning may be required
• Consulting management is typically characterized by aggressive deadlines, high customer expectations, and mission critical requirements

• Travel up to 30%
• Extensive work with computer monitors and keyboards is required. The ability to manually operate a keyboard and view a monitor screen for periods on average of 8 hours per day is required
• At certain times, while implementing a solution at a customer site, it may be necessary to work well in excess of the standard 8-10 hour workday. Weekend work may, at times, also be required to meet a project deadline
