The http://maps.live.com team is looking for talented Software Engineers. Our mission is to empower users with knowledge about the physical world, through anytime/anywhere access to "local" information on businesses, products and services, people, events, and points of interest like landmarks, government offices, parks, ATMs. We want our users to easily find and filter the information, manipulate it, organize it, map it and communicate it to peers, friends and family.

You will help build solutions that will seamlessly deploy and work on thousands of consumer-grade servers in datacenters around the globe. You will be part of a team of Software Engineers that will develop deployment, monitoring and failure management solutions to scale. You will help define and implement the engineering practices, tools, infrastructure and architecture to enable rapid, effective and efficient software development.

Required Technical Skills:

• Solid OO design, coding and debugging skills.
• Expertise in C# or C++.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and async implementations; management of distributed data and distributed applications.
• Desirable:
  • Working knowledge of SQL database design and implementation
  • Experience in Internet-related technologies

• This position requires knowledge of software product development processes (design, engineering, and deployment). Experience with big projects (1M+ lines of code) is a plus.
• You should be highly motivated, a self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Demonstrated success working in a fast paced environment.
• Demonstrated success dealing with ambiguous problems; and the ability to independently make solid progress when the solution is not well defined.
• A very strong analytical background.

Training/Experience: This position requires a BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related field. Software Industry experience is a plus.
