Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of Insight and Innovation

Summary:

The Insight and Innovation group combines a customer analysis group; research and targeting; and the analytics reporting and technology team formerly housed in a corporate customer service excellence structure. The customer and market insights that are created will drive the improved innovation, product development, brand differentiation and customer loyalty with the goal of propelling revenue growth and driving customer acquisition through a world-class insight and innovation center of excellence. The Insight and Innovation Advanced Capabilities Director will provide strong leadership promoting teamwork and building on strong collaborative relationships with cross functional partners.

Responsibilities:

The individual selected for this role will provide strategic thought leadership with regard to statistics/modeling and targeted marketing areas for Wachovia. He/she will manage Insight and Innovation resources dedicated to targeted marketing modeling/optimization and advanced modeling efforts such as pricing, ROI and media mix modeling. This professional will lead the development of cross-enterprise customer/prospect contact strategies in order to maximize Wachovia's return on targeted marketing investment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing all targeted marketing processes for Wachovia's approximate 2,000 production files and 160 million customer/prospect touches.
  • Development and communication of all targeted marketing reporting including individual campaign performance analysis and overall impact reporting.
  • Developing cross-campaign contract optimization solutions targeting the customer base with the best combination of offer, message and call-t-action.
  • Support development of contact cadence to ensure that campaigns share the appropriate vision, sequence and frequency.
  • Examination of emerging trends, strategies and technologies regarding statistics, modeling and targeted marketing.
  • Maintaining relationships with leading third parties in this space.
  • Leading all advanced modeling automation and data mining initiatives for Insight and Innovation.
  • Leveraging appropriate internal and external resources to lead to goal achievement.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and lead continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a member of Insights and Innovation leadership to help shape and execute human capital communications.
  • Ensure that people are aligned appropriately with line of business strategic priorities.
Requirements:
This role requires 12+ years of experience to include a leadership role establishing and implementing customer relationship management programs in a complex corporate environment. A candidate must possess a minimum of five years of work in a high volume direct marketing environment such as retail, banking, telecom or insurance. In addition, 10+ years of experience is required in applying one or more of the following functional areas: economics, finance, marketing, statistics and/or strategy. Other requirements include:
  • Ability to demonstrate having worked with senior leaders to gain understanding and acceptance of information based strategies to generate superior results.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply technical knowledge (theory, methodologies and research) to business problems with bottom line results. Relevant technical fields include market research, direct response marketing, statistics, econometrics and/or financial modeling.
  • Track record for initiating action, making high impact decisions and completing challenging assignments.
  • Proven ability to motivate and direct diverse teams with emphasis on both individual as well as group.
  • Strong project and process management, negotiation and facilitation skills.
