Subject: Clinton, NJ: Research Position in Computational Modeling and Data Mining at ExxonMobil

ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company has an immediate opening for a full-time staff position in our Modeling Group within our Corporate Strategic Research Laboratory, located 50 miles from New York City in scenic western New Jersey.

We are looking for creative and resourceful individuals to join our research team in deriving knowledge from high-dimensional, complex data using physical and statistical models with advanced data interrogation and analysis techniques. Our research impacts all areas of the corporation, including the geosciences, seismic, drilling, refinery operation and control, process chemistry, and high-throughput experimentation and discovery. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of scientists dedicated to advance and use computational methods to solve challenging industrial problems.

The applicant should have a Ph.D. in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or other related scientific disciplines, combined with strong computational modeling and/or algorithmic skills. Knowledge and experience in additional areas such as statistical data analysis, data mining, signal processing, machine learning and pattern recognition, and other topics in artificial intelligence are desirable. Experience in the petrochemical industry or geosciences is not necessary. The candidate should have a desire and an ability to grow into new science areas.
