Yahoo! has more than 500 million unique visitors per month who generate 10+ Terabytes of click-stream data each day, resulting in Petabyte scale data warehouse! Can you be the one to create scalable algorithms that make sense of this largest user data warehouse in the world?

Yahoo! Labs is looking for an outstanding data-mining / machine learning scientist to work in our Display Advertising Sciences team. We seek results oriented researchers who want to solve real problems that make a direct and measurable business impact. These individuals should enjoy formulating problems based on customer needs, selecting, modifying and/or building appropriate tools or methodologies, and providing true end-to-end solutions for diversified challenging data mining and data research projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to apply your data mining skills to the 10+ terabytes of data that Yahoo! captures every day.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science with an emphasis in Data Mining, Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
  • 3+ years demonstrated expertise and desire to work hands-on in analyzing and modeling large industrial data sets
  • Experience in exploratory data analysis and in data mining processes
  • Proven knowledge of data mining and machine learning methods and tools
  • Software development skills (C/C++, Perl, Java, SQL, etc.)
Preferable Job Qualifications:
  • Experience in building and deploying solutions in production
  • Experience in large scale systems like the grid computing framework
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to understand business requirements
  • Team spirit and ability to aggressively execute independently
