Job description

Successful candidate will work in a team providing technical and organizational leadership to all mathematicians across projects. He/she will also be responsible for collaborating with customers within a BMI team environment to understand customer problem domains and guide solution concepts, translating customer objectives into model requirements, defining "real world" problems abstractly in terms of fundamental structures and computing properties, designing algorithmic solutions and ensuring the quality of mathematical solutions.

The perfect candidate should have:

  • Advanced degree in quantitative disciplines like Physics, Statistics or Mathematics OR PhD in Finance/Economics with undergraduate in Physics, Statistics and/or Mathematics
  • Specific work experience as either a project leader or #2 leader on at least one complex modeling assignment covering all phases of the work from inception (objectives, requirements, specifications) through development, delivery and post-delivery testing
  • Broad understanding of statistical techniques and algorithmic problem types
  • Familiarity with statistical methods and the following: data mining, non-parametric modeling, heuristic methods simulated annealing, neural networks, genetic algorithms, fuzzy logic
  • Experience working in teams with domain knowledge experts, customer users, other mathematicians and programmers
  • Excellent oral & written communication and presentation skills in the English
In order to be able to:

  • Identify appropriate individual algorithms, integrate those algorithms into useful working models and organize a disciplined approach to the development process.
  • Collaborate with BMI software engineers on cost-effective algorithmic solutions
  • Provide technical leadership to all mathematicians on all projects via direct team participation, mentoring and or peer reviews
  • Translate customer objectives into model requirements
  • serves as a mentor and work leader to the other mathematicians who are talented and inexperienced
