Dow AgroSciences is seeking a Scientific Programmer to join our Quantitative Genetics team in the development and enhancement of software platforms for the integration and analysis of biological data for our plant improvement programs.

The successful candidate will join the R&D Trait Genetics & Technologies function as a member of the Quantitative Genetics team. This team is developing and implementing quantitative methods for analyzing phenotypic, genotypic, and environmental data generated by our plant breeding programs. Key job responsibilities include the development and enhancement of software for genetic analysis of molecular marker data, design and maintenance of relational databases, design and implementation of user-friendly graphical user interfaces, and efficient implementation of statistical algorithms.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in biometry, bioinformatics, computational biology, or closely related field is required.
  • Outstanding programming skills are required.
  • Bioinformatics training is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, document, and develop software tools for supporting high-throughput work processes generating large volumes of biological data is a must.
  • Strong communication skills are essential, along with an ability to collaborate effectively with both laboratory and field scientists.
