Epsilon newly created openings for two statistician/data mining
professionals to work with Epsilon's Analytic Consulting Group of 25
consultants/statisticians. The statisticians are involved in all aspects of
analytic projects from understanding of the business issue and proposing
analytic solutions to handling, cleaning, exploring and modeling large
datasets and data mining. The group is working with clients from a diverse
set of industries such as telecommunications, technology, not-for-profit,
financial services, health care and retail.

The Statistician/Data Miner position requires excellent applied data
analysis and modeling skills. Qualifications include either a Ph.D. degree
in Statistics/Quantitative field or a M.S. degree in
Statistics/Quantitative field with 1-3 years of applicable statistical/data
mining experience in a business setting. The successful candidate will be
able to readily design, estimate and interpret descriptive and predictive
models using cluster analysis, factor analysis, decision trees and general
linear models with emphasis on linear and logistic regression.  Strong
problem solving skills and the ability to communicate technical results to
a non-technical audience are essential. Proficiency in UNIX and SAS
programming is required. Additional desirable skills include familiarity
with artificial intelligence techniques, SAS macro language programming,
experience in sampling, missing data estimation, application of exploratory
data analysis and appropriate model validation techniques.
