industry, etc. EKDB-99 is a follow-up of EKDB-97
http://www.ncc.up.pt/pbrazdil/ekdb.html, which was held in Coimbra,
and served as an excellent forum for research in KDD. The 99 edition
also intends to serve as a meeting-point for the researchers and
professionals working in the areas of KDD, Data Mining, Data Analysis,
Datawarehousing, Database Marketing and Decision Support as happened
in the EAIA-98 http://www.di.fct.unl.pt/eaia98 KDD Summer school in

The objective of the workshop is to discuss methods for non-trivial
extraction of information which is implicit in the existing data and
which can be represented in a high-level language so as to facilitate
interpretation.
