BioDiscovery has an immediate opening for a data mining scientist with extensive experience in development and application of pattern recognition algorithms as well as extensive object-oriented programming experience. This position involves participating in designing a revolutionary database centric system for analysis of genetic data obtained from high-throughput gene expression measurements. The task will require design and implementation of algorithms for aiding research scientist make sense out of large amount of gene expression data using various pattern recognition and visualization tools. These tools will interface with an Oracle database and are developed in Java. Experience in development and application of various pattern recognition tools, e.g., clustering methods, neural networks, and decision trees is required. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the microarray technology with several years of hands on software development experience. The ideal candidate will also be proficient in Java or C++ programming having a minimum of 3 years experience. MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Biostatistics, or related field, or equivalent experience is required. Knowledge of Matlab programming language is a plus.
