Spatio-Temporal Data Mining in Health

CSIRO Mathematical & Information Sciences (CMIS), in collaboration with CSIRO Land and Water and Flinders University Knowledge Discovery and Management Laboratory, is seeking to appoint a high-calibre Postdoctoral Research Fellow to perform research in spatio-temporal data mining in Health. New methods and algorithms will be developed for the automatic identification of interesting patterns from large longitudinal health data sets. The position is for a period of 3 years, starting in 2002. The position is located with CSIRO Data Mining on the campus of the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia and will involve interaction and liaison with collaborators.

The successful applicant will have a recent Ph.D in computer science, statistical computing, or related disciplines. Demonstrable research skills in data mining preferably in spatio-temporal data mining is advantageous. Good programming skills are also necessary.

A comprehensive 3-year Development Plan will be provided, ensuring that over the period of the Fellowship you will develop skills, partnerships and networks, which are valued both within CSIRO and industry.
