Responsibilities

You will develop, document, and support large-scale automated demand profiling and clustering for SAS retail planning solutions in demand, merchandise, inventory and price planning; work within an n-tier architecture, which includes SAS, JSP, and JAVA components;

Duties include implementing an attribute-based and demand model-based clustering to support different planning solutions; extending and automating existing clustering functionality in the SAS System; collaborating with other members of the development and testing teams with an understanding of the business requirements; advising, assisting, and providing documentation and technical publications for external and internal customers regarding the clustering in different planning solutions, as needed; and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in statistics, computer science, operations research, or a related quantitative field;
  • A minimum of five years of experience in statistical component development for enterprise software systems;
  • Strong experience with a variety of statistical estimation and clustering methods in high-performance software environments;
  • Experience using SAS or other commercial statistical software;
  • Extremely strong computer programming skills;
  • Excellent teamwork skills;
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferences:

  • Ph.D. in applied statistics, computer science, operations research, or related quantitative field.
  • Experience programming with C, C++, or Java.
  • Experience in developing or implementation of automated stored statistical processes for enterprise planning software.
  • Experience working in a software team environment and with remote development teams.
  • Experience working with a large team of experts from varied academic backgrounds.
  • Software experience related to retail demand, merchandise, inventory, or price planning solutions.
  • Experience in software design, development, and build tools, such as UML, Rational, CVS, ANT, and/or Eclipse.
  • Strong knowledge of econometric, time series, and market response models.
  • Strong knowledge of data mining, and time series mining.
  • Familiarity with relational and dimensional data models.
Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above requirements.
