Primary Job Responsibilities
The Manager is responsible for working with internal corporate and business unit clients to analyze eBay's rich user and site data and identify opportunities for business improvement.

The Manager will be one of 3 direct reports to the Senior Manager of Business Analytics in a newly created Business Analytics Team residing in Corporate Finance. The team's charter is to drive insight for corporate and business unit clients through advanced data mining and analysis.

Successful candidates will be self-starters offering a strategic perspective coupled with sound business judgment, strong analytical capabilities, and a deeply collaborative work style. They will be detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and will have a passion for producing practical business impact. Skill in understanding client needs, problem solving, conducting rigorous quantitative analysis, developing presentations, and communicating with executive-level clients will be critical.

The role will be largely project-based, offering the Manager exposure to multiple facets of eBay's business. The Manager will have an opportunity to interact with peers and leaders in business units and corporate groups as well as the broader Business Analytics team.

The Manager will be encouraged to grow rapidly into a thought leader, and will be well positioned to leverage deep insight about the business into future roles within the company.

Job Requirements
An ideal candidate will possess an MBA or an advanced degree in a quantitative field with a record of excellent performance. The candidate should also have at least 2-3 years of strong business or quantitative analysis experience with a top-tier management consulting firm, investment bank, market research group, or equivalent. Exceptional candidates who do not meet the above criteria may also be considered.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:

  • Using analysis tools such as SAS, SPSS, S-Plus (or advanced work in Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic)
  • Working with large databases such as Teradata, Oracle, or SQL Server using SQL (or advanced work with MS Access)
  • Programming experience, either in an academic or business environment
All candidates should have a passion for technology, the Internet, and the unique nature of the eBay community. They should possess exceptional interpersonal skills, initiative, and integrity. Finally, they should be eager to learn and develop new skills.
