The School of Computing and the National Centre or Language Technology (NCLT) at Dublin City University,Ireland, invite applications for six PhD scholarships funded by the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) on

Treebank-Based Induction of Wide-Coverage Probabilistic Lexical-Functional Grammar Resources for

  • Chinese
  • Japanese
  • Arabic
  • Spanish
  • French
  • German\English
The PhD scholarships are for 3 years, starting now (or a.s.a.p.), covering university registration fees and providing an annual stipend of euro 12,700 (tax free).

Our ideal candidates have a strong background in Computer Science, Natural Language Processing, Computational Linguistics or Linguistics. Programming experince in one (or more) of Java, C++, Perl, Prolog, Lisp etc. and strong interest in problem solving and research are essential. Native or near-native competence in one of Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Spanish, French, German\English is a definite asset. Good communication skills in English (written and oral) are important. Knowledge of one of LFG, HPSG or similar would be an asset.
