MITRE's Center for Innovative Computing and Informatics has a number of senior roles available in our Information Discovery and Understanding Department in McLean, VA. We are looking for Artificial Intelligence scientists with strong expertise and background in either general AI or specific Data Mining technologies. Both roles will be responsible for research, design, prototyping, and support of intelligent information processing applications. The Information Discovery and Understanding Department is responsible for both application and research across a broad range of AI technologies: data mining, natural language process, human centered design, learning and intelligent systems, and information semantics.

We are interested in candidates with either:

• Broad, strong skills in AI - automated reasoning, planning, decision making, knowledge representation, robotics, etc.
• Deep skills in Data Mining - statistical classification models, clustering, time series data, handling huge data sets, etc.

• Independent thinking
• Ability and desire to lead technical project teams
• Ability and desire to meet with customers, understand their needs, and generate appropriate, innovative technical solutions
• Identify and propose new research directions
• Masters in a relevant fields (Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.), a Ph.D. is preferred.
• At least 5 years experience.
• Programming ability is highly desirable: C++, Java, Perl, Unix/Linux, and Windows.
