We are seeking a quantitative Senior Research Analyst/Statistician for our Novato Corporate office.

Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Research Analyst takes the role of an "Account Manager" for internal customers and understands and manages all analytical and reporting needs for assigned customers (e.g. field managers, technical line management, etc.). The Analyst is also the consultant/go-to-person for all quantitative analysis needs
  • Further development of Claims' business intelligence strategy and tools as well as development of Caims Performance metrics and reports including design of future Claims Dashboard and Analysis tool functionality
  • Definition of short-, mid- and long term data management needs for the front- (Business Objects) and the backend (data warehouse)
  • Development and implementation of Claims' performance management strategy
  • Analytical support for the actual operational target setting and maintenance process (how to set the targets to meet overall goals)
  • In-depth analysis of performance drivers / root-cause analysis (e.g. customer satisfaction, indemnity management or reserving performance) as well as development of measures to improve performance (e.g. how to improve customer satisfaction)
Requirements:
  • A four-year degree in business, economics, statistics, mathematics or other applied quantitative field required(masters degree a plus)
  • At least three years relevant work experience, ideally in a management consulting environment. Insurance experience preferred, but not a must
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to get to the "so-what" of the analysis
  • Very good business sense and understanding of key drivers of performance including the ability to apply quantitative approaches to business questions and problems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability communicate results of complex analyses to non-technical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills with leadership potential. You will interact with people from all levels in the organization including top management. Experience in interviewing, leading workshops and managing smaller projects (including 3rd parties) required
  • A thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Building Excel models, preparation of PowerPoint presentations, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of statistical methods (e.g. regression analysis, etc.), business intelligence and data mining tools (e.g. Business Objects) as well as statistical packages such as SAS, S/S+/R, SPSS, or similar package is a big plus
