Subject: Kirkland, WA: Scientist - Machine Learning, Data-Mining And Statistics at Inrix
Inrix (http://www.inrix.com) is seeking a candidate to work in its
research and architecture group, reporting to the Principal Scientist,
towards further development and evolution of the company's traffic
prediction and forecasting technologies. The ideal candidate will
possess an academic background in machine learning research and/or
Bayesian statistics as well as some industry experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Derive novel approaches to the creation of traffic information, with the goal of enhancing the quality and relevance of the traffic data that Inrix provides
Research methods to adapt and improve Inrix' traffic prediction and forecasting algorithms
Provide statistical analysis support for the business - provide statistical analysis that can drive business decisions around the value of different data sources and the impact of meeting customer requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Operations Research or Mathematics, specializing in data-mining or machine learning
- 2+ years of industry experience
- Strong conceptual understanding of a range of current data mining technologies (decision trees, neural networks, support vector machines, etc.)
- Algorithm design experience and familiarity with probabilistic machine learning methods
- Competence in the use of statistical techniques to rapidly come to conclusions, and empower business decisions about data
- Experience with SQL, particularly Microsoft SQL Server 2005
- Experience with large datasets a plus
