Subject: Post-Doc Position in Data Mining/Bioinformatics at USC/UIUC

A post-doc position in Data Mining and Bioinformatics is open within the collaborative effort between Prof. Jasmine Zhou's bioinformatics group at USC (University of Southern California) and Prof. Jiawei Han's data mining group at UIUC (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). The candidate will work on developing novel data mining algorithms for large-scale genomic data, such as biological networks, microarray gene expression data, protein interaction data, and time-series data. The candidate will be physically located at USC but with the possibility to travel to UIUC frequently.

Candidate Qualification:

  • Recent Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or Data Mining, with excellent publication record
  • Experiences in mining structured patterns, such as graphs or sequential patterns
  • Bioinformatics experiences preferred.
