Rocket Fuel Inc's quantitative ad network will be driven by high-performance algorithms and reliable, fault-tolerant, scalable systems. We are hiring senior engineers to build a high transaction (~10-15k/s) ad server and large scale (~500G/ day) data streaming and analytics pipeline. This is a great opportunity to build these systems from scratch in a very early stage start-up.

Job Functions:

• Develop high volume, real-time data processing and ad serving systems
• Produce designs and code that are scalable, extensible, reliable
• Analyze tradeoffs in designs, recommend approaches
• Build unit and end-to-end tests
• Instrument your code for monitoring and testing
• Understand and advise on product direction

• B.S./ M.S./PhD in computer science/ mathematics/ related fields
• 6+ years experience in server side development of complex systems
• OR recent grads with ACM team, TopCoder, or open source participation
• Structured thinker, effective communicator
• Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization techniques
• Excellent programming skills & experience with Java / C / C++ on Linux
• Easy to work with, happy to work in an agile startup setting

• Experience with openX, hadoop, lighttpd, MySQL, BerkeleyDB
• Experience delivering software as a service
• Open source contributor to large-scale server projects
• Experience optimizing SQL queries and data modeling
