Comparing to Data Mining Applications by Industry (June 2007) , we see the overall number of responses lower.
The top 2 industries are still CRM and Banking, with Fraud Detection in 3rd place (up from fifth place in 2007).
Industries with the highest increase in the share of respondents are:
- Investment / Stocks, up from 3% to 14% (350% increase).
- Finance, up from 7.2% to 16.8%, (133% increase)
- Social Policy / Survey analysis, up from 3.6% to 7.5% (108% increase)
- Security / Anti-terrorism , up from 3.6% to 5.6% (56% increase)
- CRM/ consumer analytics, up from 26.1% to 38.3% (47% increase)
- Advertising, 12% share
- Social Networks, 2% share
- Web usage mining, down from 10.1% to 7.50% (26% decrease)
- Direct Marketing/ Fundraising, down from 20.30% to 14.00% ( 31% decrease)
- Entertainment/ Music, down from 4.30% to 2.80% ( 35% decrease)
