Some scientists worry that machines will become smarter than humans (so-called "Singularity") and suggest limits on AI research to prevent this. Others think that AI super-intelligence will help humans ("Singularity" will be good). Your opinion: [144 votes total]

Singularity won't happen: machines will never become smarter than humans (60) 42%

David, Singularity
While it may be the case that individual singularities will occur (e.g. there may be a computer smarter than Ray Kurzweil), I don't think that all humanity will suffer defeat. Unlike Deep Blue, which had a specific functionality, adaptive and evolving strategic thinking have taken a very long time to develop and will take a very long time to implement. By then, we, or some of us, may have advanced yet again.
