This position reports to: SVP, SCORING & TECHNOLOGY

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Much of the recent work of the Scoring and Technology Department has had to do with the leveraging of their technology and quantitative methodologies to create value in the marketing and underwriting process. The successful candidate will participate with and guide teams to address credit risk, campaign management, pricing and line allocation needs.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

This person will be involved in Scoring & Technology initiatives including:
  • The integration of customer information resources (e.g., purchase preference and contact history) into the firm's marketing efforts.
  • The development and implementation of test designs to improve measurement of risk and yield performance with respect to pricing and population cohorts.
  • The development of credit scoring systems for the management of risk in the existing portfolio and with new acquisitions.
  • The development of target marketing models.
  • The application of models to optimize credit and/or target marketing strategies.
This person will not only participate in these activities but will provide oversight with an eye to continuously raising the quality of the work produced and the value added to the business units. The performance of this candidate will be measured on timely execution and application of targeting models to foster profitable growth in the company.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • M.S./Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research or a related field.
  • Ability to deliver high quality modeling solutions in a business environment.
  • Significant experience with large database exploratory data analysis.
  • Strong competency in the areas of statistics, optimization and simulation.
  • Strong background in structured programming and software.
  • Team player with strong communication skills who can work effectively with mid-level and senior business managers throughout the organization.
  • Hands-on style and high comfort level in a fast paced, dynamic environment, while bringing maturity, discipline and training to the group.
