Data mining applications are very wide ranging! The last KDnuggets Poll asked: Where did you apply data mining in the past year? The most popular application areas were

  • Banking (17%),
  • e-commerce/Web (15%),
  • Telecom (11%),
  • Biology/Genetics (8%),
  • Fraud Detection (8%),
  • and Science Data (8%).
Among other interesting new areas mentioned were Digital TV and Automotive.
