Recommendation Engine from SPSS ETD delivers personalized recommendations for improved customer relationships

Miami, Fla., July 17, 2001 - Answering the need for an automated system to personalize customer interactions, SPSS Inc.'s (Nasdaq: SPSS) Enabling Technologies Division (SPSS ETD) announces the availability of the SPSS Recommendation Engineā„¢, an advanced analytical system based on SPSS data mining, modeling, and deployment technologies. The system enables organizations to provide personalized recommendations to customers for successful sales and enhanced services.

The SPSS Recommendation Engine enables organizations to make personalized recommendations based on data derived from demographic attributes and customer behavior, including past purchases and Web usage. This system discovers customer segments; establishes product associations for each segment; and uses the segments to make recommendations. The recommendations can then be deployed online (at the point and time of customer interaction) to Web sites, call centers and brick-and-mortar outlets, or off-line to direct mail or marketing campaign systems.
