IRS selects Informatica Data Integration Platform
Informatica PowerCenter to help enable federal agency improve
Capabilities related to performance analysis, operations decision
analysis, and financial management reporting

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., December 3, 2001 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ:
INFA), the leading provider of enterprise analytic software, today
announced that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has chosen Informatica
PowerCenter, the company's data integration platform, to extract and
integrate critical data for analysis in support of modernizing IRS tax
processing and internal management systems.

The objective of the IRS internal management systems modernization is to
improve its capabilities related to agency-wide performance analysis,
operations decision analysis, and internal/external financial management
reporting. Informatica PowerCenter is one of the solutions that will be
deployed as part of one IRS Business Systems Modernization project, the
Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)/Custodial Accounting Project (CAP), to
meet this objective.

Informatica PowerCenter is planned for use in the development and
implementation of data transformation interfaces between the DB2 mainframe
warehouse and the IRS revenue general ledger system. It will also be used
as the data aggregation interfaces between the DB2 mainframe warehouse and
an Oracle Sun Solaris data mart. Further, Informatica PowerCenter is
intended to integrate data from approximately 20-30 tax operations and
internal management systems into a data warehouse, and then aggregate the
data to populate an additional 5-7 data marts used by tax operations and
internal management managers.

Informatica PowerCenter is intended to handle the following EDW/CAP
processes:
*	Taxpayer Account Processing Statistics. During the weekly extract
cycle, Informatica PowerCenter is designed to aggregate taxpayer account
processing statistics (e.g. number of refund transactions by service
center) and load the data into the warehouse.
*	Revenue Data Mart. On a weekly basis, the data integration platform
is designed to aggregate tax revenue, refund, receivable and payable data
from the warehouse and load it into the Revenue Data Mart to support the
repetitive, predictable management analysis/reporting.
*	Revenue General Ledger. On a daily basis, Informatica PowerCenter
is intended to extract revenue accounting summary transaction (RAST) data
from the warehouse. PowerCenter is also designed to transform the RAST
data into journal voucher data and create an output flat file that can be
imported into the Revenue General Ledger System (RGLS). After RGLS has
processed the journal vouchers, it is planned for the data integration
platform to extract journal voucher status data from RGLS to determine
which of the journal vouchers did and did not post. For journal vouchers
that did post, it is planned for Informatica PowerCenter to update the
RAST records in the warehouse with the journal voucher ID and posting
date.
