Subject: Call for Site Proposals for KDD-2004

The ACM SIGKDD (Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery in Data and Data Mining) -- see www.acm.org/sigkdd -- is the leading organization for Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining and organizer of the annual KDD conference.

Here are the past KDD conferences.

Executive Committee (EC) would like to request proposals from General Chair candidates who are interested in hosting KDD-2004, the 10th International Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining.

Due to the size of the KDD conference, a suitable host city for a KDD conference must satisfy the following criteria.

A General Chair candidate must be based in the host city. A General Chair candidate must be a highly energetic professional in the field of knowledge discovery and data mining who is able to mobilize a team of organizers to take charge of all local arrangements and all conference logistics (hotel, vendors, A/V equipment and other facilities, proceedings, etc.).

The city should have a solid KDD industry base from which the conference may draw participants, speakers, volunteers, exhibitors, and sponsors.

The city should have major hotels or a convention center to accommodate up to 1,000 participants and 4 parallel tracks of technical programs during a 4-day period.

The city should be easily accessible via several major airlines (excluding commuter propeller jet services).

The city and surrounding areas should offer tourist attractions, great variety of restaurants, shopping centers, theatres and museums, etc.
