Subject: San Jose, CA: Data Mining/Analytics Specialist at PricewaterhouseCoopers

This is a key role in Project Sherlock at PricewaterhouseCoopers' Center for Advanced Research, housed in San Jose, CA. The purpose of this position is to apply detailed analytics to help screen for risks of accounting fraud. The person in this position will:

  • Perform initial statistical analysis, applying regression and similar tests to characterize the data and identify opportunities for data reduction
  • Select initial set of data mining algorithms for test and refinement
  • Drive data mining software selection, configuration and extension
  • Assist in designing the data warehouse to facilitate data mining
Experience, Education and Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience required including:
    • Fielded data mining applications in predictive analytics and outlier analysis.
    • Experience in fraud detection highly preferred.
    • Extensive knowledge of statistics and data mining techniques including multivariate regression, time-series analysis, distribution-free methods, clustering, and neural networks
    • Familiarity with advanced database and data warehousing technology
  • Graduate degree in statistics, applied mathematics, computer science or related field highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail
  • Ability to function independently, as well as part of a team under aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment, convey a strong professional image, exhibit interest and positive attitude toward all assigned work and strive for continued improvement.
Travel Required: 0-20%
