Position Summary
MasterCard Advisors is the global professional services arm of MasterCard
International. MasterCard Advisors Information Solutions Group (ISG)
provides data, analysis and information management services to external
clients in payments and financial services industries. ISG™s SpendingPulse
information service provides institutional investors and economists with
consumer spending information drawn from MasterCard™s payments network.
The primary role of the Data Mining Analyst is to monitor SpendingPulse
data quality and perform data research and analysis to identify and resolve
data quality issues.
Responsibilities
- Perform data quality analysis using descriptive statistics to uncover
anomalies in generally expected trends associated with macroeconomic and
industry sector reports
- Provide summary report and recommendations for improving integrity of
data
- Perform ad hoc data analysis and research
- Reports to MasterCard Advisors ISG VP of SpendingPulse Product Management
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in mathematics, statistics, operations research or other related field
- 4-6 years experience utilizing SAS (BASE, GRAPH and STAT) in both a
UNIX and Windows environment
- Solid database experience using SQL and other related tools for
application development within an Oracle environment
- Well honed analytical skills associated with large amounts of data
using statistical tools contained within Microsoft Office.
- Detailed understanding and experience using various methods of
merchant classifications (SIC and NAISC);
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction
with all levels of management through MC Advisors.
