The Data Mining team in SQL Server Analysis Services is looking for a highly motivated and qualified Software Design Engineer to define, design, and implement what it takes to deliver data mining to the developers, the enterprise, and the world. This is a unique position on a product team working closely with Microsoft Research to bring advanced technology to the reach of every consumer.

As the ideal candidate you will have a strong applied math background, specifically with experience in the issues around implementing mathematical algorithms in code. Knowledge of data mining, statistics, and machine learning will greatly contribute to your success.

You will have a strong software design background with deep skills applying C++ to develop creative and effective solutions to complex problems. These problems are typical enterprise-level server issues, including multi-threading, memory management, high performance data structures, and of course, writing robust, maintainable code. Demonstrated experience working through the full product cycle from initial design to final product delivery is required. Experience with SQL and database systems and excellent communication skills and presentation ability are desired.

A minimum of 7 years in C++/C# development and a Masters degree in computer science or related field is recommended for this position.
