FeaturesFrom: Andreas KarwathDate: 11 May 2005 Subject: ILP-05 challenge on prediction of functional classes of genes The data (concerning the prediction of functional classes of genes) is out since last sunday (8th May 2005). If you could be so kind to include the advert (attached to this email) in the net KDNuggets newsletter. ILP 2005 Challenge (www.protein-logic.com). This year, the 15th International Conference on Inductive Logic Programming (ILP 2005) will introduce an ILP Challenge. The data (concerning the prediction of functional classes of genes) is out since last sunday (8th May 2005). The challenge of a real-world data set provides a test of how far we have progressed in the field of ILP and multi-relational data mining. Are the tools up to the job? Do they scale? Do they handle noisy, sparse and complex data? The idea is to have a collaborative challenge rather than an individual challenge: a data set or sets will be provided, and the challenge is for the community to combine current techniques and approaches to analyse the data to the best of our abilities. The challenge will be open to anyone to participate, individually or in collaboration. There will be a special session at the conference devoted to discussion of the results of the analysis. It will also be possible to submit short papers in conjunction with prediction results to the late breaking papers track of ILP 2005.
