Senior Modeler
The Senior Modeler will be responsible for supporting all
fraud-related modeling and analysis functions in our company. Working
primarily through the sourcing of information from a variety of
internal & external data sources, this position will involve close
liaison with analytics, product and other personnel in the design,
development, implementation and maintenance of a new suite of mortgage
and real estate fraud detection and analysis solutions targeted at a
wide range of organizations in the mortgage and home equity finance
markets, including mortgage originators and servicers, surveillance
agencies, and pre- and post-funding quality control functions.
The successful candidate will be involved in developing analytical
products which are both highly innovative and best-of-breed, and which
have real business impact in fraud risk assessment and control. This
position will contribute to an ongoing R&D process within our company
to generate new business initiatives which deepen our market
penetration of data-driven risk solutions in the mortgage and real
estate sectors. The Senior Modeler will achieve this by applying
predictive technologies to envision and create solutions that solve
our client's business needs; these solutions will be high value-add
and responsive to market opportunities.
Role/Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative, state of the art mortgage and real estate fraud detection models, and leverage next generation data and text mining technologies to design and build fraud risk solutions based on massive loan-level and property-level data repositories.
- Business focus is to leverage technologies and skills to build and implement production-strength scoring platforms for detecting and analyzing mortgage and real estate fraud risk, including the ongoing monitoring, analysis and calibration of the underlying predictive models.
- Serve as a primary resource for fraud predictive modeling including performing a liaison function with stakeholder resources such as database analysts, programmers and other relevant technical personnel.
- Lead and manage analytical consulting projects in the mortgage and real estate fraud analytics area and build up a strong business competency in this space.
- Work effectively with different business and technical units, to provide analytical support and effectively transfer knowledge and technology in to products and solutions that are high-performing and market leading.
- Out of the box thinking as it relates to solving analytical problems and extraction of signals and patterns relative to mortgage and real estate fraud.
- Identify and develop opportunities in the area of mortgage and real estate fraud detection and analysis products and solutions.
Requirements:
- MS/PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science or Operations Research.
- Minimum 5 years' hands-on model and scoring development experience, preferably in the mortgage, real estate or consumer financial services sectors, in the areas of predictive modeling, descriptive analytics, and data and/or text mining. Fraud-related experience, and experience in large-scale data analysis highly desired.
- Demonstrable track record in delivering high-quality, high-impact results through the use of advanced quantitative methods.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player but with the ability to also work independently, and in person, with clients, partners and other stakeholders to define requirements and perform requested tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to analyze and present results to a non-technical audience.
- Proven expertise in SAS, SPSS, KXEN or other similar production-strength, modeling and scoring toolkits. Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting tools such as MicroStrategy, Business Objects etc.
- Experience in SQL and Perl, and knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server or similar RDBMS platforms.
