Subject: New York, NY and Chicago, IL: Sales Engineer at SPSS, Inc

SPSS, Inc currently seeks Sales Engineers in our Chicago or New York Offices. The Sales Engineer is an integral part of the sales organization and demands a high energy professional. In this position you will work closely with sales representatives, sales managers, and prospects to prove that SPSS products can solve real world business problems.

In addition, you will:

  • Participate in sales conference calls and prospect visits, doing product demonstrations frequently using prospect data, and working with prospects at both a technical and business level to show how SPSS solutions can provide value to them
  • Possess demonstrated skills in the application of solution/customer centric selling and a proven track record using it to help drive revenue.
  • Be able to work with sales reps to strategize on sales approaches to develop business
  • Give conference presentations which pull together vertical and product knowledge in a non-marketing and non-product-centric delivery.
  • Work independently and or as a vital member of a team.
  • Instruct and coach sales staff on technical aspects of SPSS products.
Requirements include:
  • 5+ years of experience in development, pre-sales support, or real world use of data analysis/statistics/ data mining solutions; preferably with 3+ of these driving revenue as a sales engineer.
  • Proven capability using software to analyze real world data sets to solve business problems.
  • Possess a solid understanding of data mining and or statistical methods of applications.
  • Good understanding of computer hardware and operating systems, including MS Windows 95/98/NT and Internet browsers.
  • Fully developed time management, multi-tasking, and coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
Desired:
  • Experience working with or assisting software end users, either in a help desk or consulting capacity {or similar}.
  • Background supporting complex sales
  • Experience selling CRM or Predictive Analytic Applications
  • Background in SPSS or other analysis/data mining software, or a strong technical/statistical background
  • Masters or equivalent college/university degree preferred.
  • Able and willing to travel
